Observability Team Update - Weeks 47-48 (2023)

Hi everyone!

Below are the team’s updates for weeks 47 and 48. First, as always, let me introduce the fantastic team and what we’re building.

:muscle: The Team

The Observability team at Canonical consists of Dylan, Jose, Leon, Luca, Pietro, Ibrahim, Mateusz, and Simme. Our goal is to provide you with the best open-source observability stack possible, turning your day-2 operations into smooth sailing.

:hammer_and_wrench: The Work

During the engineering sprint in Riga, we picked up the work we had started in Prague on the architecture for the new Mimir charms. In this sprint we started to materialise this by shaping the new Mimir charms (mimir-coordinator and mimir-worker). Besides that, we have started the necessary work to include TLS in that Mimir distributed deployment.

While working in testing COS-Lite performance, we made various fixes in Loki (#324, #325) and cos-proxy (#100, #103). After a long debug session we ended up fixing and annoying Prometheus issue.

 Feedback welcome

As always, feedback is very welcome! Feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions, or suggestions either here or on our brand new Matrix channel.

That’s all for this time! See you again in two weeks!
