Observability Team Update - Weeks 1-4 (2024)

Hi everyone!

Below are the team’s updates for weeks 1 to 4 of 2024. First, as always, let’s introduce the fantastic team and what we’re building.

:muscle: The Team

The Observability team at Canonical consists of Dylan, Jose, Leon, Luca, Pietro, Ibrahim, Mateusz, and Simme. Our goal is to provide you with the best open-source observability stack possible, turning your day-2 operations into smooth sailing.

:hammer_and_wrench: The Work

Lots of efforts have been focused on our Mimir HA deployment, for which we’ve integrated TLS and some self-monitoring capabilities, getting us closer and closer to testing with partner cloud.

So many bugs have been addressed and fixed across lots of our charms, especially cos-proxy and grafana-agent.

We’ve also rolled out a Pebble log forwarding integration with the Loki charm, through the loki_push_api library (#332). Some documentation is already available in the library itself, but more will soon be published on Discourse

 Feedback welcome

As always, feedback is very welcome! Feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions, or suggestions either here or on our brand new Matrix channel.

That’s all for this time! See you again in two weeks!
