Observability Team Update - Weeks 43-46 (2023)

Hi everyone!

Below are the team’s updates for weeks 43 through 46. First, as always, let me introduce the fantastic team and what we’re building.

:muscle: The Team

The observability team at Canonical consists of Dylan, Jose, Leon, Luca, Pietro, Ibrahim, Mateusz, and Simme. Our goal is to provide you with the best open-source observability stack possible, turning your day-2 operations into smooth sailing.

:hammer_and_wrench: The Work

We are now back from the Canonical semiannual in-person sprint, where we had lots of fun! Especially at the Ubuntu summit and the Juju community dinner, where @erik-lonroth awarded everyone a magic wand!

Within all the excitement, @jose published a video about Loki (Spanish), a snap for cos-tool, our utility for working with PromQL and LogQL rule files, and added support for logging from multiple containers (loki/307); @lucabello made various fixes to our most polished CI thus far; @dylanstathis added support for custom listening address in cos-alerter (#55); @ppasotti kept improving ops-scenario; @sed-i fixed a couple of bugs in cos-proxy (#89, #96).

We are super excited to get started on our 24.04 roadmap!

 Feedback welcome

As always, feedback is very welcome! Feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions, or suggestions either here or on the CharmHub Mattermost.

That’s all for this time! See you again in two weeks!
