Hi everyone!
Below are the team’s updates for weeks 25 to 26 of 2024. First, as always, let’s introduce the fantastic team and what we’re building.
The Team
The Observability team at Canonical consists of Andrew, Dylan, Ibrahim, Jose, Leon, Luca, Mateusz, Michael, Pietro, and Simme. Our goal is to provide you with the best open-source observability stack possible, turning your day-2 operations into smooth sailing.
The Work (arbitrarily selected highlights)
Just like last Pulse, we focused a lot of our energies on the new HA deployments, while the Service Mesh design work kept moving forward.
We also worked on some bugs and features:
- Andrew fixed an issue with logs in grafana-agent-k8s;
- The tracing team fixed some tracing-related bugs, namely regarding the default service name, and also improving the Tempo code documentation;
- Michael enhanced the Tempo experience for uncharmed applications;
- Andrew fixed a bug with COS Proxy and Prometheus Target;
- The core team fixed a bunch of bugs (prometheus-k8s-operator#497, alertmanager-k8s-operator#232, loki-k8s-operator#419, cos-proxy-operator#144, and a few more);
- Leon wrote docs on how to test COS integrations;
- We wrote some documentation on how to create great charmed dashboards.
Feedback welcome
As always, feedback is very welcome! Feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions, or suggestions either here or on our Matrix channel.
That’s all for this time! See you again in two weeks!
