Hello, Hola, Ciao, Hej, Hallo, Witam, مرحباً بكم ,درود, שלום everyone!
Here are some of the works of the mighty Observability Core team from weeks 5 and 6 of 2026, corresponding to pulse 3.
The Team
As always, a quick reminder on our team members! On the Core team we have:
Together with the Tracing and Profiling and Service Mesh teams, we combine to create the greater Observability team, managed by Simme.
The Work
Juju Client Error when deploying COS Lite via Terraform; failing to create an external-ca integration is fixed!
Vulnerability scan rock fixes: alertmanager, grafana-agent, loki, git-sync.
Cos-configuration-k8s can now clone when proxied and using SSH
Grafana dashboards only inject dropdowns if they are not already provided
Some users have applications (landscape-serverandceph-radosgw) which have port conflict with otelcol and its node-exporter snaps. To address this, we are working on making these ports dynamic. This feature will likely land next pulse!
The newly released Blackbox-exporter machine charm received some more love and will be a great addition for anyone who needs to execute “probes for a variety of protocols, including HTTP(s), DNS, TCP and ICMP” and export them as metrics.
An investigation to revamp of our charm/stack documentation is underway with the help of @yanisa-hs. We are excited about this and used the otelcol charm as our test for Sphinx per charm.
Otelcol-k8s now has send-otlpandreceive-otlpendpoints (currently only supporting metrics) which has massive implications in the observability space! More work soon to come.
Feedback welcome
As always, feedback is very welcome! Feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions, or suggestions either here or on our Matrix channel .
That’s all for this time! See you again in two weeks! ![]()
