Microstack ARM64 status?

Hi.

Presently we have baremetals with Ampere Altra Max CPUs (1000 cores).

I wanted to test a sunbeam microstack deployment on my Macbook, by Microstack is not at parity between AMD64 and ARM64.

d_d@lima-default:/Users/d_d$ sudo snap install openstack --channel 2023.1 error: snap “openstack” is not available on 2023.1/stable for this architecture (arm64) but exists on other architectures (amd64).

Is there a roadmap for this?

Longer term yes - currently this would be a post 24.04 deliverable.

Hey! Sorry for Bother you, I didn’t find a way to contact you. I’m doing my graduation project, I’m using Microstack. I have almost everything done, I only have to allow the acces to the VMs outside the server. This server is in a VPN, my computer to. I need to Connect my pc vía ssh to an Instance but when I try to Connect by the Microstack command I got timeout error. I tried almost everything like creating a new router and nets but it didn’t work… Can you help me? Please. I’ll be so grateful

We’re now at 24.04.3. Many companies are using apple silicone and are not easily able to use microstack on our engineering laptops. UTM emulation is also still very slow, especially on M1s. Can you set an appropriate expectation as to when this would be available? @billy-olsen @tkurek

@david-klein-anaplan thanks for reaching out and good to hear from you again. Before I attempt to respond your question, could you please clarify whether you’re asking in the context of the microstack or the openstack snap?

I think when I first looked at this I was referring to microstack, but I see that has been discontinued in favour of the openstack snap. In either case, I don’t think there is an arm distribution. But my use case is simply to have a one node deployment for the sake of testing and development on my apple silicone MacBook. I installed an emulated UTM vm for x64 ubuntu, but performance was just not good enough.
