Upgrades
Temporal Server and Admin 1.31
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
The following charms support Ubuntu 26.04:
-
temporal-k8s - Temporal Server #176
-
temporal-admin-k8s - Temporal administration and database schema management #67
-
temporal-ui-k8s - Temporal Web UI #62
Temporal Worker 2.0
Temporal Worker is available on its separate 2.0/stable track, using Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Worker 2.0 introduces improvements to worker configuration, reliability, and monitoring.
Features
Enhanced TLS support
Charmed Temporal improves secure communication between components. #61
-
Temporal UI can detect when the Temporal frontend uses TLS and adjust its connection accordingly.
-
Temporal Worker validates TLS requirements when connecting to a TLS-enabled Temporal frontend, helping prevent insecure or incorrectly configured connections.
Improved workflow management in Temporal UI
Temporal UI introduces a configuration option to enable or disable the Start Workflow functionality. #57
This provides administrators with additional control over workflow execution directly from the Web UI, allowing the interface to be tailored to their operational requirements.
Improved Worker observability and reliability
Temporal Worker 2.0 includes:
-
Updated Grafana dashboards and Prometheus alerting capabilities for monitoring worker health. #124
-
Improved handling of database credentials across multiple worker units. #129
-
Improved detection and reporting of worker failures and unhealthy states.#105
These enhancements help users monitor worker applications and troubleshoot operational issues more effectively.
Upgrade support from Temporal 1.23 to 1.31
A new upgrade guide describes how to transition existing Charmed Temporal deployments from 1.23/stable to 1.31/stable.
Upgrading from Temporal Worker 1.0 to 2.0 requires deploying a new Worker 2.0 application alongside the existing deployment, migrating its configurations and integrations, validating workflow execution, and retiring Worker 1.0 once the transition is complete.
