[hacky demo] Advanced dark sorcery with jhack and ops

This session was recorded and is live on youtube.

Hi all! It’s time we have a little workshop/demo of how to best use the operator framework and jhack to debug and develop charms for Juju.

The demo will be recorded and later made available for those who couldn’t attend. You can switch your cameras off if you don’t wish to be recorded. The recording will at some point be turned off to allow some time at the end for Q&A.

Who: yours charmingly, Pietro Pasotti.

Stay tuned for charming pro-tips and and tooling on mattermost!

Prep

If you want to follow what I’m doing, please have at hand:

  • a (preferably k8s) juju controller
  • a throwaway juju model
  • the jhack snap installed and setup (there’s some trouble with edge ATM, please use candidate or stable) Get it from the Snap Store
  • A local charm repo in a deployable state (i.e. charmcraft pack + juju deploy “work” without errors), if you don’t have one handy, grab traefik.
