In this workshop we will perform a live demonstration on how we use Juju and MAAS to install and configure the Top-of-Rack Mellanox switches in our OpenStack cloud. By using a simple self-written charm, we’ll deploy Ubuntu 20.04 on the switches and set up FRR (frrouting.org).
We’d like to puncture the myth that getting something done with Juju should be hard, sometimes a simple hooks only machine charm can do a lot of work for you!
As an extra bonus, once the charm is deployed inside the Juju model, all new units (switches) are ready to become good citizens monitored by Nagios, Prometheus and Grafana together with the rest of the environment.
