Charmed Kubeflow 1.11 is now stable!
We are excited to announce that Charmed Kubeflow (CKF) 1.11 is now generally available.
This release marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing a secure, robust, and production-ready MLOps platform. Following a successful candidate phase, CKF 1.11 brings the latest innovations from the upstream Kubeflow ecosystem to the Juju community, with a heavy focus on security, data resilience, and streamlined deployment.
The Charmed Kubeflow 1.11 release has been validated on K8s versions 1.32, 1.33 and 1.34, also validating GPU acceleration on A10 and Tesla GPU architectures. Moreover, Charmed Kubeflow 1.11 has been validated using the latest versions of Juju 3.6 LTS, which brings significant improvements in terms of reliability, robustness and security (for more information refer to Juju Release notes)
Key Highlights
- Security-First: Non-Root Workloads & Pod Security Standards CKF 1.11 marks a significant improvement with respect to the security stance. All charms and workloads now run as non-root containers by default. We have integrated also Pod Security Standards to strengthen workload isolation, ensuring that your ML experiments and production models run with controlled permissions.
- Production Readiness: Backup & Restore with Velero Data resilience is now built-in. Through integration with the Charmed Velero operator, users can now back up and restore control plane data and user workloads, providing peace of mind for mission-critical deployments.
- Next-Gen Training: Kubeflow Trainer V2 CKF 1.11 introduces Kubeflow Trainer V2. This component works alongside V1 to deliver a more modern and streamlined model training experience, making it easier for data scientists to scale their training jobs.
- Terraform-First Deployment As the Juju ecosystem evolves, we now generally recommend deploying Charmed Kubeflow using our Terraform module. While YAML bundles remain available, they are now deprecated in favor of the more flexible and maintainable Terraform-based approach.
What else is new?
- Upgraded Components: Includes Argo 3.7.3, Istio 1.28, KServe 0.15.2, and Pipelines 2.15.0.
- Kubernetes Support: CKF 1.11 is validated for Kubernetes versions 1.32,1.33 and 1.34.
- SDK Migration: Please note that Kubeflow Pipelines SDK v1 is now deprecated; we recommend migrating to SDK v2.
