This pulse, the team made solid progress as we near the end of the 26.10 cycle, with the 27.04 roadmap draft now finalized. Harry’s agentic Pebble bot turned up over 100 bugs and shipped fixes for 39 of them ahead of v1.33.0. Hyrum gained new functionality to support narrowing a check run to a specific set of charms based on prior results. We also hosted an AMA with some of the Data (NoSQL) team.

Ops

  • Fixed alias mapping for pydantic dataclasses from before pydantic 2.11 (#2768).

  • Worked on raising RelationNotFoundError, rather than “permission denied”, when a relation has gone away (#2748).

  • Stopped tox writing a .venv redirect file in the Ops examples (#2769) and in the Charmcraft profiles (#2887).

Charming

  • Added --from-results and a --status selector to check in hyrum (#148)

  • In hyrum, merged runner stderr into stdout so logs keep their order (#128).

  • Continued work on charmlint, which we will probably make public next pulse.

  • Started work on a workshop for pytest-jubilant’s dev environment (#123).

  • Filed a Juju 4 bug: removing a unit doesn’t remove it from the application’s peer relation (juju#23326).

  • Migrated flake8 to ruff in the Juju controller charm (#141).

  • Continued work on jhack scenario snapshot:

    • Used scp to fetch unit state db in snapshot (#250).

    • Updated get_networks() to return a frozenset and serialised Container (#251).

  • Started work on GitHub configuration in charmcraft profiles.

  • Hosted an AMA with some of the Data (NoSQL) members.

Charmlibs

  • Worked on a new design for charmlibs testing packages that will integrate with multiple-charm state-transition testing.

Pebble

  • Spec review progress made on Pebble scheduled service start.

  • Over 100 bugs discovered agentically.

  • Fixed 39 bugs agentically (to be released in v1.33.0).

  • Progressed on implementation of Pebble’s self-telemetry (tracing, logs, metrics).

  • New Charm Tech team member Matt Patchava onboarded and ready to make contributions to Pebble, alongside other Charm Tech products.

Documentation

  • Preparing documentation updates to match the release of Charmcraft 4.5 (next minor release), which brings several improvements to the machine and kubernetes profiles (#2886).

  • Added a how-to guide for securing a charm to the Ops docs (#2721).

  • Worked on giving the testing events a documented type (#2760).

  • Worked on fixing the self-review command in the discoverability how-to (#2764).

  • Worked on a fix for mounting the project directory to a target relative to the home directory, which changed in recent Multipass versions (#2765).

  • Started work on writing an Ops doc about production-grade integrations.
